Italy - Dolomites - Climbing weekend

With Manuel a nice 2 DOLOmites days. We got sun, we got rain, we got pizza, we got beer and a lloot of god rock and inspiring view on the south face of Tofana di Rozes ;-)
Due to the copious rain the dolomites are in bloom at the we got also a llot of sweet colored surroundings ;-)

Croda da Lago - Torre Marcella - Nikibi (6b+,9 Pitches -  300m -Mario Dibona, Gretchen Alexander 06/2002)

A modern easy bolted route first ascended from the ground which climbs the smooth slabs of the tower. The route ascends a compact vertical rock face and offers great mid-grade climbing. Given the route's difficulty, the bolts and beauty, Nikibi is destined to become a modern classic up this mountain.

Maps and GPS tracks below:

Croda da Lago - Lastoni di Formin, Spiz de Mondeval - Re Artu` (6b, 10 Pitches - 350m - Mario Dibona & friends 200?)

Re Artù is a great 10 pitch route which ascends the isolated and beautiful south face of the Spiz de Mondeval. The route is well bolted and the climbing is always interesting and sustained on solid rock. Just to of the best sport routes i ever climbed after "la Fiesta de Los Biceps...)

Re Artu` and Love my Dogs

Maps and GPS tracks below:
  • Lastroni Formin - Re Artu` - Approach From Passo Giau` toward forcella di Giau and path 436
  • Lastroni Formin - Re Artu` - Descent: The longest of the oprions but, in my view the nices in term of View and sourroundings...Great the View on Mt. Pelmo and Mt. Civetta North Wall. If you got time, enjoy this 1:30 min walk back through this path instead of rappelling 3x25m in the humid crappy rock gully just below the summit...

the massive south face of Tofana di Rozes - i climbed the Alvera/Pompanin there last autumn

  1. La salita é stupenda ma non é merito vostro. Le foto invece sono vostre e sono tutte stupende, complimenti!

Training - Self made trainingboard

Self made Wood carved Training Board

It is a bit that i am thinking about a feasible way to make a wood training board without spending too much.
Well, this is the idea i came up with:
4 wood boards 28mm x 300mm x 1200mm (price ca. 5 Eur each, full wood)1m metal threaded rod (8mm) to be cutted in 4 pieces of 25cm each8 bolts M88 washer M8Wood specific gluesdrill2 or 4 crimping tools  to fix the panels while gluing them together (overnight)sandpaper grid 400 and 10010mm drill tip to make the fixing holes 25 mm drill tip to make  the starting holes at the edges of the  slotswood-saw
The A3 sized plan can be downloaded here as PDF (Click).
It is basically an assembly of woodboards which are easy to work with, without specific material. the boards are first carved and then glued together.
Below some pictures of the process.

Before to glue the panels need to be treated with a sort of protective agent to look alike the metolius woodboard... i choose the Swedish oil to paint the boards…

Austria - Tirol - Habicht (3277m)
